what I’m wearing
My hopes in sharing my outfits is that you find some style inspiration in them. Whether it’s combining pieces you wouldn’t have thought of, different ways to style one of your favorite things, or even a nudge to just WEAR THE OUTFIT.
For reference, I’m typically a size 8/10 on the bottom and a medium on top, but it ranges ALL the time for me with so many pieces, and I’ve learned that’s okay and normal! Our bodies are not made to fit into clothes, clothes are made to fit our bodies. Fashion is an incredible way to express ourselves and our current style, but it’s important to keep in mind that we are created for much more than worrying about the way our arms look in a tank top (easier said than done, I know). The better you feel in the outfit, the better you’ll look in the outfit.
My personal style fluctuates week to week, and pretty seasonally, too. My style tends to be more boho + eclectic in the summer, preppy in the spring, colorful + edgy in the winter, and classic cozy in the fall. But again, it changes frequently depending on what I’m feeling, what I’m seeing, and how inspired I am. Some days I feel braver and bolder in my outfit choices than others, and that’s okay. Not every outfit has to be a groundbreaking look for the fashion world. Sometimes it’s just a good and classic outfit that’s easily replicated. I hope to convey a little bit of all of that in this weekly runway roundup.
I am an outfit repeater and I’m not ashamed. I’m an even bigger item-repeater. Because that’s what they’re for?! These pants are in constant rotation for me because they’re fun, a statement on their own, and extremely comfy. (p.s. — they may be coming to a Henhouse near you)
I wanted a different look for these pants, though, for our first day at Dallas Market. We’re on our feet all day, we’re coming straight from the airport with three hours of sleep, so I knew this outfit had to be fashionable yet comfortable. Because of these factors, I opted for a super accessorized and fun look that looks intricate but is actually super easy to execute. I grabbed a strapless white tank and layered a lot of colorful and funky jewelry. The cherry on top for this outfit was the colorful tee that I cut in half down the middle to create a t-shirt cardigan. It’s different, adds a pop of color, and was super easy to DIY in under five minutes. I do kind of miss the t-shirt, though. RIP
My Dallas Market day two outfit was simple and again, comfortable. We dropped this set to the Henhouse app this day, so I wanted to showcase how easy it is to style and make it bra-strap friendly even though the top is strapless. Adding an edgy denim vest makes every strapless top (or dress) a little more functional, and creates a more thoughtful look without having to really think about dynamic layers. I popped some fun bubble jewelry and pink sneakers for some color since the majority of the outfit was neutral.
I wore outfit #3 to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Dallas, Feng Shui. This dress is actually a two-for-one piece that can also be worn as a skirt. I opted for the dress option this time with another denim vest layered on top, again to hide the bra straps, and to add some shape up top. I added a colorful bubble necklace and turquoise lariat necklace that pulled the same colors from the dress. I debated on which shoes to add between the pink sneakers from day #2 or the pinky-mauve boots. The pink boots won. I don’t know if you’re sensing a theme with my style yet, but this was another comfortable and easy outfit that looks like more effort than it really is.
