what I’m wearing
My hopes in sharing my outfits is that you find some style inspiration in them. Whether it’s combining pieces you wouldn’t have thought of, different ways to style one of your favorite things, or even a nudge to just WEAR. THE. OUTFIT.
For reference, I’m typically a size 8/10 on the bottom and a medium on top, but it ranges ALL the time for me with so many pieces, and I’ve learned that’s okay and normal! Your body is not made to fit into clothes, clothes are made to fit your body. Fashion is an incredible way to express yourself and your current style, but you are made in a Creator’s image that has designed you for much more than worrying about the way your arms look in a tank top (easier said than done, I know). The better you feel in the outfit, the better you’ll look in the outfit.
My personal style fluctuates week to week, and pretty seasonally, too. My style tends to be more boho + eclectic in the summer, preppy in the spring, colorful + edgy in the winter, and classic cozy in the fall. But again, it changes frequently depending on what I’m feeling, what I’m seeing, and how inspired I am. Some days I feel braver and bolder in my outfit choices than others, and that’s okay. Not every outfit has to be a groundbreaking look for the fashion world. Sometimes it’s just a good and classic outfit that’s easily replicated. I hope to convey a little bit of all of that in this weekly runway roundup.
I’m a big fan of fun accessories, especially if it involves a fun purse. I got my cherished taxi cab purse from a Kate Spade outlet store about a year ago and it’s one that I’ll never get rid of. It makes any and every outfit its paired with a little more fun. I’ve featured it here with a NYC taxi cab cardigan and Urban Outfitters floral barrel sweats. It makes for the perfect combination of comfort and style, with a fun flare.
Can you tell I love these sweatpants? The baby blue hue makes for fun wintry pairings, while the floral appliqué can be tied in for spring later on. In this outfit I’ve paired my beloved sweats with a fun thrifted Dumbo crewneck, an oversized denim jacket, and red Dolce Vita sneakers to break up some of the blue and tie into the sweatshirt design. I love finding random pieces like this crewneck that hold a tinge of nostalgia and comfort, all while being able to be styled in a cool way, too. A little bit of old paired with a little bit of new created a fun and comfortable outfit.
Matching sweatsuits are a close second for a girl’s best friend — especially once you start dressing them up and styling them. I styled this bubblegum pink sweatsuit with a neutral fur coat and some warm-toned UGGS for a casual but fun winter outfit. I got a lot of compliments on this look, and I think the primary reason being the shock of the two pieces together. We save our nice pieces for nice events, with a mindset that fur coats should only be worn with “nice” outfits or special occasions. But I think we can apply the mantra, “life’s too short, use the fine china” in this scenario, too. Wear your nicest coat to get your hair done. Carry your fancy handbag to the grocery store. And definitely invest in several matching sweatsuits to go with all of it.
